Lettie Parks Harris

Lettie Parks Harris passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013. She was born the daughter of Robert W. and Nannie McArthur Parks of Aberdeen on February 5, 1924. She was married to the love of her life, Lt. Colonel Victor W. Harris, Sr., in 1949. She was predeceased by her parents, ten of her eleven siblings and her beloved husband.

Gardening was her passion and she became a National Garden Club Master Judge. She was consistently requested as a judge at the North Carolina State Fair Flower Show as well as many other local and statewide shows. Her yard always was teeming with a varied assortment of plants and she often graciously allowed others to reap the benefits of her handiwork. She served as President of Cross Creek Garden Club and was a member of Dig and Dream and other area garden clubs.

Her volunteer work at Womack Army and the Veterans Hospitals was important to her. She enjoyed assisting the widows and widowers of the NC Retired Military at Fort Bragg.

She is survived by three sons: Victor (Jan) of Raleigh, Gerald (Elaine) of Stedman and John of Fayetteville; grandchildren: Jessica (Neal) of Greensboro, Trey (Meredith) of Orlando, FL, Eric of Stedman, John, Jr. of Fayetteville and William of Four Oaks; sister Kathleen Monroe of ¬ St Paul, NC and many, many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel, 545 Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 3- 5 p.m.
