Gail McLaurin Blackmon, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Gail was born November 20, 1936, to the late Georgia and Leighton McLaurin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Newland C. Blackmon.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Williams (Wes) and Lisa Blackmon (Mark); granddaughters, Megan Williams (Jake), Morgan Williams and Piper; sister, Joy Collier (Lloyd); sister-in-law, Jean Blackmon-Brauer (John); nieces and nephews, Lori Daniels (Mike), Richard Collier (Wendy), Michael Collier (Angie), Denise Leasure (Ben), John Blackmon (Renee); loving friends, Lori and Madi Capps; devoted caregivers, Christine, Claudette, Joyce, Kitt, Patsy and Saundra.
Gail was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved life and made the most of every day. Gail cherished her family, friends, church, and country. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. She had a special appreciation for nature ensuring her bird feeders were always full, admiring beautiful sunsets and full moons. Gail was known for her strength, kindness, and her beautiful spirit – always bringing a smile to those she touched.
A visitation and funeral service will be held Friday, February 18, 2022, at Clement Baptist Church, 6020 Maxwell Rd., Autryville, NC 28318. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm. The funeral will be held at 1pm with a graveside service to follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28301
