Ethel Capps Royal, age 96, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, April 4th, 2024.
“Memaw” as called by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved the Lord and daily spent time reading her Bible and praying. She was a beautiful classy woman who “never looked her age.” She loved people, her family, her church, and friends. Mrs. Royal was a longtime member of Northwood Temple Church and the Goodwill Bible Class and she loved her profession as a dental assistant for close to 50 years. The matriarch of the Royal family, she took great joy in serving family meals and was an avid sports enthusiast, attending every sporting event she could of her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Royal is survived by her son, Micheal (Tina) Royal and three grandchildren Natalie (Jamin) Dixon, Nicole (Justin) Nemmers and Richard (Courtney) Royal and six PRECIOUS great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister, Dorothy Harris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Royal and son Richard Wayne Royal and her parents, George and Alice Capps, and siblings Virginia Cathey, Agnes Miller, Wingate Capps and Donald Capps.
There will be a visitation at Northwood Temple Church on Thursday, April 11th from 12:00 -1:15pm and the service will follow at 1:30pm. The burial will be afterwards at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street at 3:00pm.
