Bonnie Carnes Mangum, 84, of Fayetteville died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 28, 1934 in Lancaster, S.C. Bonnie's life centered around her family, friends and church, Mt. Gilead Baptist. She also was especially devoted to her grandchildren..
She enjoyed doing cross stitch, traveling, reading and spending time at the beach. She also loved to laugh and was a joy to be around. The dignity, strength and courage she showed while fighting her illness was an inspiration to us all.
Visitation is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 31 in the fellowship hall at Mt. Gilead with service to follow in the main sanctuary at 11 a.m., burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Donald H. and Juanita Carnes, husband Robert J. Mangum and second husband Ralph Averette.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Mangum and wife Wanda of Terre Haute, Ind., and Michael Mangum and wife Connie of Fayetteville; brother Donald "Barry" Carnes of Victoria, Va., and sister Frances Bryant and husband Bill of Raleigh; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
