Brent R. Michaels

Brent R. Michaels departed this world for his Heavenly home on July 15 and entered through Heaven’s gates to rejoice alongside his beloved son, Jason, as well friends and loved ones, and glorify His Lord and Savior. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 45 years, Connie, daughter Lori Robinson and husband Jason of Rocky Mount, NC, granddaughters McKenzie (husband Jake) and McKenna, sisters, Judy Norwood and husband Steve, Frances Buchanan and husband, Larry, Jo Ann Parrish and husband, Jerry, all of Henderson, NC, brother, Arthur Travis and wife Peggy of Henderson, NC, and his mother-in-law, Grace Henderson, of Fayetteville, whom he affectionately referred to as “Mom.”  His “FTCC family” also grieves the sudden loss of Brent, a member of the College’s Executive Council.    

Brent served as the College Public Information Officer and Executive Director of Public Relations and Marketing at Fayetteville Technical Community College, providing steadfast support to the college president.  His journey at FTCC began in 1999 where he taught in the Business Administration program and shared a real-world perspective with his students based on his many years of experience in senior-level management in corporate America.  In 2001, Brent was named Business Division Chair, and in 2009, he was promoted to oversee the marketing and public relations for the College.  Prior to joining FTCC, Brent retired from Hardee’s Food Systems in 1998 as a senior vice president overseeing franchising and operations and was owner of Grace’s Gold Crown Hallmark in Smithfield from 1999 to 2007.  Brent earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from East Carolina University and his MBA from The University of Phoenix.  In addition to teaching in the classrooms of Fayetteville Technical Community College, as well as in the office environment where he led a team of professionals, Brent was a Sunday School teacher at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church where he looked forward to studying, sharing, and discussing the Word with Sunday School class members.  Brent lived a full life of service and devotion to His Lord and was dedicated to his beloved family.  He would often make a point of witnessing to others by emphasizing that the most important decision one can make in life is to be ready to meet the Lord when that time comes.  “You have got to know you are ready to meet the Lord,” he would say so passionately.  “It is without a doubt the most important decision in life—know that you will have a home in Heaven.”  Brent’s family and friends know that today, Brent has found wonderful peace and is now at rest in his Heavenly home.      

Visitation with family and friends is planned for Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at Snyder.  Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
