It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Ray Ferrell announces his passing on Sunday, August 5, 2018, at the age of 95 years. He died peacefully at his home in Fayetteville where he had resided since 1954. He will be fondly remembered for his love of family and his honor, integrity, dedication to his church, service to others, as well as his gardening and mechanical skills.
His spirit is carried on by his wife of 70 years, Edna Wood Ferrell; children, Michael R. Ferrell, Ron Ferrell (Eva), Martha Anne McGough (Richard), Janet Robertson (Johnny); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.
After service in England and Scotland with the US Army during World War II, he returned home and opened a business, the Cross-Over Service Station, with his brother Theron and continued the business for 48 years until he retired at the age of 71. For over 60 years he was an active member of Vaughn Memorial Presbyterian Church, serving in many roles including Deacon and Elder.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 9 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral home, prior to services in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
