James “Jimmy” Earl House, 79 of Hope Mills, died Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at his residence.
Jim served as a school crossing guard for many years. He was well liked and respected by the students he took under his wing in his years as a crossing guard at South View High School.
James was born April 13, 1940 in Cumberland Co. to the late Robert Vance House and Sarah Thorne House.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edna Underwood House; brothers, Clarence, Ed, Franklin and Donald Ray House.
He is survived by his daughters, Tamara Morris and husband Mike, Kelly Fox and husband Earl, Sheila Smith and husband Mike, Shannon Swenfurth and husband Richard; sisters, Shirley Atherton, Ethel Stanger; brothers, Gerald, Pete and Johnny House; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A Graveside service will be held Monday, July 1, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Lafayette Memorial Park with the Rev. Gary Leviner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday June 30, 2019 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
