Fayetteville—James Newman, age 82, of Fayetteville, NC formerly of Battle Creek, MI passed away, Monday, September 23, 2019 in the loving care of his wife. He was born on March 5, 1937 in London, England. After leaving University, he moved to the United States in 1958 in hopes for a better life. James was an artist, always painting and drawing landscapes and scenery. He also built all kinds of furniture and enjoyed remodeling his home. James also enjoyed working in his flower garden with his wife Linda. He was a jokester who enjoyed playing pranks on people. James married Linda on December 3, 2009 in Fayetteville, NC. He was employed with Kellogg's Company but he also loved managing bands.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda of 10 years; children, Eric (Katrina) Newman, Mark (Emily) Newman, Kevin (Janice) Taylor, Vicki (Chuck) Crossley; step-children, Norman Hord, Kevin (Johnna) Hord, Christine Hord, Joy Van Boven, Michelle Herr, Michael Hayes; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchildren; and many beloved family members in England. James was preceded in death James was preceded in death by his first wife of over 30 years, Faye Newman and his parents and adopted parents, Arthur & Desdemona Florence Newman.
Family received friends at Kempf Funeral & Cremation Service, Battle Creek on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 2:00pm-4:00pm & 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 11:00am with Pastor James Codde officiating. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.
