James “Jimmy” E. Ross, 88, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, January 20, 2019.
Jimmy was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was a faithful member of Walstone Memorial Baptist Church. He loved the Lord with all of his heart. He was a Mason of Phoenix Lodge #8 and a Sudan Shriner with the Cumberland County Shrine Club. He was the owner and operator of Ross Texaco on Murchison Road. for over 40 years. He also served during the Korean War.
Jimmy loved to entertain others with his stories of his youth. Jimmy was always ready to tell a joke to get a laugh. He enjoyed being with family and had many friends.
The family would like to thank all those that provided such wonderful care during his illness. A special and heartfelt thank you to his caregivers and friends Denise, Cindy, Jackie and granddaughter Paige.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie Jean Carrington Ross; daughter, Pamela Jean Ross.
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Ross Place (Darman) of Tenn, Nancy Ross Barfield (Robert), Robyn Ross Nix (Troy) all of Fayetteville; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Clara Falk, Gerry Kalista and Joyce Hill; brothers, Billy and Mickey Ross.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11 am. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals or Walstone Memorial Baptist Church.
