Margaret D. Mims, 91, of Fayetteville passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 in her home.
Margaret was born April 8, 1927 in Nash County, NC to the late Arthur D and Leigh L. Driver.
She was a graduate of Pineland College and Rex Hospital School of Nursing. She was very proud of being a Registered Nurse, having worked at High Point Memorial Hospital, Highsmith-Rainey Hospital, Fort Bragg Army Hospital and the Veterans Administration Medical Center. She retired from the VA after 25 years. She was Head Nurse on the Long Term Care Ward.
Margaret met Carl C. Mims, Jr. in 1942 while in college and they were married in 1948.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Marjorie D. Kelly.
She is survived by her son, David E. Mims of Fayetteville; daughter, Cynthia M. Rose of Fayetteville; and granddaughter, Susan Leigh Rose of Williamston.
Margaret was an active member of Walstone Memorial Baptist Church since 1955. She served in many leadership roles.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Walstone Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St.
