Monserrate Howell

May 3, 1924 ~ February 19, 2019 (age 94)

Monserrate (Tatin) Howell, age 94, died peacefully at Johnston Health in Smithfield NC on Tuesday February 19, 2019.  She was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico.  Mrs. Howell was married to James B. Howell.  She traveled the world as the wife of an Air Force veteran raising three children.

Though small in stature, if measured by her heart, she was a giant.

She did not hesitate to provide guidance to her children and grandchildren regardless of age.  Though they were not always the words one wanted to hear, they were from the heart and wise with her years.

Tatin is preceded in death by her husband, James, and her daughter, Martha Blake.

She is survived by her sons, James R. M. Howell (Kathy) of Atlanta, Georgia, Frank M. Howell (Dannielle)of Erwin, NC, and son-in-law, Lawrence (Willie) Blake of Fayetteville, NC.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Michael Howell, David Blake (Meghann), Alex Blake, Robert Howell, Kelly Blake, James Howell, Rebecca Kishbaugh (Chris), John Howell, Heather Chouinard (Dennis) and Tiffany Howell.  She was blessed to have 9 great grandchildren, Annabelle Kishbaugh, Brooklyn Blake, Lillian Kishbaugh, Jordan Sites, Lincoln Chouinard, Caroline Blake, Alexandria Arias, Charlotte Blake and Benjamin Withworth.
