FAYETTEVILLE Mortison B. Hudson, 79, known as MB, was born May 4, 1939, in Johnston County. MB's Heavenly Father called him home on August 31, 2018 at 8:30 pm. He was at home surrounded by his loving family.
MB is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Beasley Hudson of Fayetteville; son, Mickey G. Hudson and wife Eva; son, Chris L. Hudson and wife Cheryl; daughter, Debra Hudson Woodell and husband Tommy; six grandsons, Matthew G. Hudson and fiance Summer Jones, Tyler B. Hudson, Collin R. Hudson and wife Ashley, Clayton L. Hudson, Chase A. Woodell, Brayden H. Woodell and two great-granddaughters, Sophia Grace Hudson and Stella Rose Hudson. He is also survived by a brother, Carroll Hudson and wife Emma Lou and sister, Brenda Hudson Surles and husband Dan and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Milton B. Hudson and his mother Beatrice Turnage Hudson.
MB married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Beasley, on December 21, 1957. They moved to Fayetteville, NC in 1967 and he immediately became involved in Person Street P.H. Church, now known as Baywood P.H. Church. He served in many capacities such as a deacon, board member, and chairperson of the building committee and was dedicated to serving his Lord and Savior.
MB opened Morty Pride Meats in 1970. His oldest son Mickey joined the business in 1980 and his youngest son Chris joined in 1984. Today the 3rd generation has entered into the family business to continue their grandfathers' legacy of hard work, dedication and perseverance. He was a long standing member and past-president of the N.C. Meat Processors Association.
MB impressed upon his family and friends the importance of faith, and demonstrated his Christian values through his daily life. MB never met a stranger and always wanted to help others succeed in life and in business. He was a mentor to many and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will held Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Baywood P.H. Church. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the church.
