Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE – Adrian Brewer Autry, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015.

He was born February 14, 1934 in the Clement community to Sidney and Lela Autry. He saw his wife on the basketball court and told his friends that he was going to marry "that girl!" He indeed married "that girl," Peggy McCullen Autry on June 17, 1956. He was a devoted husband, father, Papa, and friend.

We celebrate the life of Brewer Autry by remembering all that he was and the things that made him unique. He loved a good joke whether told or played on others. He loved having fun by exposing his family to interesting edible things like frying frog legs and making turtle soup just on a whim. He loved watching "Dancing with the Stars" with his wife because they both were accomplished ball room dancers. In fact as they often chaperoned Clement High School proms they stole the dance floor as teenagers stopped to watch. He loved family vacations and made that a part of our lives creating many experiences that have become our shared memories. All these and many more adventures are the things our family hold dear.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Peggy McCullen Autry, his two children, Peggoty and husband Jon Stovall, his son AB and wife Monica Autry. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Rylie Stovall, Joshua Stovall and Cameron Autry. He has joined his granddaughter Megan Autry in their Heavenly home.

The family invites you to celebrate his life at Northwood Temple on Friday, May 1. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm with the service starting at 2:00. The burial will follow the service at the Godwin Cemetery on Timothy Road (SR 1620) .2 miles from Hwy 242. Services are entrusted to Jernigan- Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville, NC.
