Adam Barry
Gitlin
March 23, 1977 – August 2, 2016
Adam Barry Gitlin (1977-2016) Adam Barry Gitlin, 39, late of Fayetteville, NC, passed unexpectedly from this life on August 2, 2016. Adam leaves behind his loving wife Melanie and two adoring children Ashleigh and Tristan. Adam is also survived by his parents, Bruce and Anita Gitlin; sisters, Rachel Allen and husband Brian, and Rebekah Speight; brother, Micah Gitlin and wife Sarah; mother and father-in-law, Donald and Suzanne Crim; sister-in-law, Alison Crim; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who will all most sorely miss him. Adam was a veteran of the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division, having served his country as part of Operation Joint Guardian in Kosovo from September 1999 to March 2000. In addition to other awards and service recommendations, Adam held the unusual distinction of having earned the Russian Military's Russian Army Parachutist Badge. Adam worked the last 16 years for Thompson & Little in Fayetteville. He most recently held the position of Contract Director, but that only told a small part of the story there. He had a unique bond with everyone in the company—caring, and being cared for, as part of a second family. Adam was a devoted husband and father. He loved to cook, and was famous for his homemade sushi and pizza. He also loved camping with his family—especially on the beach. Always the heartbeat of every room he entered, he was beloved by all who knew him for his wit, charm, and selflessness. Adam had a passion for life; as well as guns, knives and his dogs. He had great hair, and perfect teeth. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Monday from 8:30 – 10:30 prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the "Adam B Gitlin Memorial Fund' at Wells Fargo or c/o Thompson & Little 933 Robeson St. Fayetteville, NC 28305, to help provide for Adam's wife & children.
