Obituary

Albert E. Rummans, 87, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, in Fayetteville. Mr. Rummans was a veteran of World War II, where he was a pilot in the Army Air Corps. He was the manager of the Sears Fayette-ville store for more than 20 years. He was actively involved in the Fayetteville community, serving in leadership roles on the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, Fayetteville State University, Methodist University, Salvation Army, Airport Commission, Military Affairs Committee, Boys and Girls Club, YMCA and Kiwanis Club. He is survived by his wife, Nita Rummans; daughter, Teri Rummans, and son-in-law, Carl Reading, of Rochester, Minn.; son, Tony Rummans, and daughter-in-law, Sue Rummans, of Madrid, Spain; four grandchildren, Stephanie Reading and John Reading of Rochester, and Scott Rummans and Michael Rummans of Ridgefield, Conn.; four stepchildren, Bill Miller of Raleigh, Michael Miller of Ocala, Fla., Jennifer Nicholas of Fort Belvoir, Va., and Jonathan Miller of Guam; and six stepgrandchildren, Christopher and Sarah Miller of Raleigh, Amanda and Michael Nicholas of Fort Belvoir, and Hayden and Cody Miller of Ocala. A memorial service will be held at Haymount United Methodist Church in Fayetteville with the Rev. Woodrow Wells officiating. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, immediately followed by visitation with the family at the church. Burial will be held in Nashville, Tenn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 220 E. Russell St., Fayetteville, NC 28301; to Haymount United Methodist Church, 1700 Fort Bragg Road, Fayetteville, NC 28303; or to a charity of one's choice.
