Obituary

Retired US Army Master Sergeant Alexander James Vizena, 81, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at VA Medical Center. Mr. Vizena retired from the Army after 26 years of service, during which time he served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He had served with the 82nd Airborne, the 187th, and Special Forces, serving with the 1st Group, 5th Group, 10th Group, and 3rd Group. Mr. Vizena is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen-Lise B. Vizena of the home; daughters, Linda Maria Rogers of Maryland and Katharina Fleming and husband, Donald, of Hope Mills; granddaughter, Ave-Maria Fleming; brother, Paul Vizena and a sister, Shelia Webb. Private services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan Warren Funeral Home.
