Alford Adrian (Doonie) Burkhalter Alford Adrian (Doonie) Burkhalter, age 74, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on November 4, 2008, in Aztec, New Mexico. Doonie was born in Newton on August 20, 1934 to Adrian and Bessie Burkhalter. Doonie was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force for 20 + years. Doonie is preceded in death by his wife, Cora; parents, Adrian and Bessie; and sister, Pauline Burkhalter Mobley. He is survived by his brother, Billy Burkhalter of Mesquite, TX, step children, Fred Wells of Farmington, NM, Jimmy Rogers Wells of Roswell, NM, Shelby Jean Waters and Linda Gail Stillwagon, both of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces, Jennifer Burkhalter Heimann and Linda Mobley Nunns of Dallas and nephews Jeff Burkhalter of Roy, UT and John Mobley, Jr. of Nevada, TX. Doonie was a free spirit who had travelled many parts of the world during his Air Force career and later travelled the US in his RV, but never forgot his hometown of Newton. He will be buried in Fayetteville, NC.
