EASTOVER - Mrs. Alice Jewel Cain McMillan, 84, of Eastover, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Jewel was born to Willie and Alice Edge Cain on Nov. 13, 1925. She married Harry L. McMillan, August 13, 1942. She started her career as a teacher at White Oak High School and she followed that by working as a CNA for the VA Hospital. She then proceeded to preach the gospel for many years. She ended her working years at Black & Decker, retiring after 24 years. Jewel loved her God first, and her husband and family followed close behind. Funeral services will be held today, Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at 3p.m. in Breezewood Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Bill Vines officiating. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Becky Cannon; a sister, Grace Heath; and two brothers, Kenneth and Eddis Cain. She is survived by her two daughters, Marie Bullard and husband Herman Bullard, and Gail Bryan and husband Mike Bryan; five grandchildren, Alice Mills, Mark Cannon, Ray Bullard, Stephanie Ashlock and Kali Bryan; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She also had many, many special friends that are too numerous to mention. Jewel will definitely be missed by all who knew her. We now release her back to her heavenly Father and her loving family that awaits her arrival.
