FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Mary Alice Murphy Overmann, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Services will be held today, Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville. A visitation will be prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Dr. Tryon Lancaster, her pastor, will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mrs. Overmann is survived by her husband of 60 years, L.R. Pete Overmann; daughter, Mary Overmann Ratley and husband Steve; grandchildren, Justin and Lauren Ratley; sisters, Edith Hill and Louise Peterson, all of Fayetteville; several nieces; nephews; and many special friends. Mrs. Overmann was a native of Cumberland County. She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Henry Murphy and Minnie Bryant Murphy; and brother, Morris E. Murphy. Pallbearers are Steve Ratley, Justin Ratley, Mike Herndon, Drew Dempster, Robert Hubbard and Jim Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her memory, to Wesley Heights United Methodist Church, 304 Trinity Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
