Obituary

Mr. Allen G. Howard, 80, of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center surrounded by his children.

As a young man, Allen served in the Navy on the USS Midway CVA 41.  After four years of service, he returned home to his beloved mother, Francis, loving siblings, and their children.  He later worked for and eventually retired from Black and Decker.  Allen played league softball and golf with his Black and Decker colleagues and always enjoyed the fellowship and competition.  He was a lifelong soldier of the Fayetteville Salvation Army Church.  Allen faithfully played in the church's brass band and was a devoted member of the Men's Fellowship Club.  He was fondly nicknamed, "Tag-A-Long", by fellow members of the Sons of the Savior Motorcycle Ministries Group.  He treasured the trips he took with them while riding his Harley Davidson Trike.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, from 12:15 to 1:15 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home with a graveside service following at 2:00 pm at Parkton Cemetery with Military Honors.  The family requests anyone attending the viewing or service wear a mask and practice social distancing.
