Obituary

Anna B. Harris FAYETTEVILLE — Mrs. Anna Mae Bell Harris, 85 years, of Fayetteville, passed into the arms of her heavenly father on Tuesday, Sept. 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Our mother was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Lansing, Ohio, to Garnet Seevers and Clyde Crawford Bell. Preceding her in death is her spouse, Harry W. Harris Sr.; her parents; brothers, John, Bob, Jim, Paul and Charles; sisters, Clara Maguire and Helen Steigner; nephews, Bobby Bell and Billy Maguire; and son-in-law, Archie Wyman. Surviving mother are children, June Ann Wyman of Portland Ore., Ellen Louisa Harris of the home, Harry W. Harris Jr. (Yuko) of Tokyo, Japan, James Scott Harris (Paula), Robin Virginia Morris, Matthew Lanning Harris and Mark Lindsay Harris of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Virginia Morris of Fayetteville, Lef Hylton, Jaime Hylton, Alanna Hylton of Portland, Joshua Harris and Caleb Harris of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Rhiannon and Ariana Hylton of Portland; pets, Liberty Belle and Buckingham Harris of the home; sister, Ida June Burritt and her family; and nephews and nieces. Our mother was greatly beloved and her presence will be painfully missed, however, she will always be within our hearts and memories. Mother was a shy and somewhat introverted person, who had a devout belief in God. Mother had a strong belief in family and was an avid genealogist in her quest for family connections. Her quest for information took her to many different places in Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia. She was extremely gracious and forgiving of those human qualities others would not be so forgiving. Mother's sense of humor was wry and sometimes left you thinking of how to respond. She was kind and loving. She supported her children in their endeavors of seeking higher education. Mother was very affectionate and loving with her children. We will miss those gentle kisses on the forehead and caresses on our faces. Mother was affectionate with friends. Mother was a courageous soul who ventured alone with seven children to Okinawa, Japan to join our father, she visited her son in Japan, and she traveled to Canada, and to Great Britain. Mother enjoyed watching the hummingbirds fly onto her birdfeeders and was amazed at their industrious endeavors. Mother was employed at Womack Army Hospital as treasurer for many years until retirement. Mother's medical care was par non and the family would like to thank Cape Fear Valley Health Systems and all the staff who cared for mother, Dr. Keethswaran, Dr. P. Patel, Dr. Newman, Dr. Strickland, Dr. Chima, Kate Mouser for the excellent care and advice they provided our mother. We would like to thank all of our family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers for their love and support. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at 2p.m. in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville.Memorial Service: 2PM, Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home
