Annie Laura Capps, 80 of Fayetteville, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September, 2, 2010 surrounded by her family in Hope Mills Retirement Center. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother,grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Church and retired from Cumberland County School Food Services. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Alvin Capps, Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Sweat of Fayetteville, Jean Renaut and husband, Bud of Mechanicsburg, PA, A son, Jimmy Capps, Jr. and wife Lisa of Hope Mills; A sister, Elizabeth Strickland and husband Marvin of Stanton, California , four grandchildren, Ed Tyrrell and wife Beth, Robbie Sweat and wife Clarissa, Taylor and Jordan Capps, five great grandchildren, Madison and Meredith Tyrrell, Zachary, Brianna and Alex Sweat, and two "adopted" daughters, Gay Sweat and Gracie Galloway. The family will receive friends Monday September 6, 2010 from 12:30pm to 2pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, the funeral will follow at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gary Strickland officiating, burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. A special thanks to Hope Mills Retirement Center and staff for their dedication and compassionate care.
