Retired US Army SGM Anthony \\"Tony\\" DeBello, Jr., 79, of Fayetteville, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at Womack Army Medical Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at 11 o'clock a.m. in Jernigan Warren Chapel. The burial will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, with military honors. Tony was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He served his country for 32 years; was a veteran of both Korea and Vietnam; was a member of the US Special Forces; and he was highly decorated. Some of his medals include Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star with 4 clusters, and the Purple Heart; He is survived by his wife, Nagako DeBello of the home; son, Banard DeBello of the home; two grandsons, Anthony DeBello III and Joseph DeBello; a brother, Joseph DeBello of Las Vegas and a sister, Ann Murphy of Boston, MA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Special Forces Association.
