FAYETTEVILLE - Archie Harrison Barrett Jr., 70, of Fayetteville, died Friday, April 9, 2010, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born July 2, 1939, to the late Archie H. and Nellie Page Barrett. He graduated from Massey Hill High School in 1957. Archie worked at Burkhead-Devane Printing Co. and The Fayettevillle Observer in the 1960s and '70s. Later, he established his own home improvement and pool business. Archie was an honest, hard worker and a dedicated family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, and he was a loyal friend. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Gordon Barrett; sons, Michael W. Barrett and wife Carla of Stedman, and Mark A. Barrett and wife Denise of Fayetteville; daughters, Lynne Hall and husband Kenneth of Fayetteville, Leigh Gregory and husband Scott of Eastover, and Laura Naylor and husband Michael of Stedman; eight grandchildren; Bradley Barrett and Matthew Barrett of Stedman, Kristin Hall and Andrew Hall of Fayetteville, Caitlin Barrett of Fayetteville; Ashleigh Gregory and Johnathan Gregory of Eastover; Paige Naylor of Stedman; brother, Vance L. Barrett of Fayetteville; sisters, Sammie Long, Bennie Stephens and Judy Barrett, all of Fayetteville; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 tonight, Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.
