FAYETTEVILLE - Arthur Brady Jackson Jr., 85, of Fayetteville, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Jackson was a Navy veteran of World War II, a deacon and faithful member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church and a Mason of the Creasy Proctor Masonic Lodge.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, in Cedar Falls Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Michael Cogdill and Chaplain Samuel Smith. Burial will follow in Baptist Chapel Church cemetery in Autryville. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today, Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Laylon W. Jackson of the home; daughters, Patricia McGrath and husband Peter of Fuquay-Varina, Teresa Gray and husband Perry of Roseboro; son, Johnny B. Jackson and wife Cynthia of Raeford; sisters, Ruby Powell of Cary, Nellie Gillis of Sanford and Barbara Nichols of Raleigh; brother, Richard Jackson of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beulah and Arthur Jackson; brothers, Charles Jackson and Norman Jackson; and granddaughter, Melissa Ray.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cedar Falls Baptist Church, 6181 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28311.
