Barbara Jean Bansley, 64, of Rocky Mount, formerly of Fayetteville, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at her residence. Born on October 20, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Nelson and Cynthia Langley Nelson.

Barbara was known for her joyful spirit and her love of life. She enjoyed bowling, playing IMVU, traveling, and shopping. She was a loving grandmother, and her granddaughter, Ava Lynn Goessens, was her everything.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald “Scott” Bansley; her daughter, Amanda Ryan; and her son, Chrispher Ryan.

Barbara is survived by her brothers, Melvin Nelson and wife Janice, James Nelson and wife Judy; her sisters, Deborah Nelson and Neva Chapman and husband Brian; and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery Chapel.
