Ms. Barbara Jean Hobson, 83, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at  Autumn Care of Fayetteville, NC, surrounded by her three children.

Barbara was born February 22, 1939, in Utica, NY, to the late Leroy Merritt and Greta Hart.  Barbara served in the US Navy from 1958 until 1960 where she met her "Jimmy" and retired from Sears after 23 years.  She volunteered with many local organizations.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James "Jimmy" Hobson.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Belinda Freeman and husband Dan; two sons, Gordon Hobson and Martin Hobson; six grandchildren, Samantha Freeman, Ally Freeman, Amy Hobson Littleton and husband, John, Timothy Hobson and wife Estefania, Dana Hine, and Nick Hine and wife Kali; six great-grandchildren, Damien Hobson, Xavier Hobson, Kael Hine, Gage Hine, Amaraist Hine, and JuddMarshel Hine.  The family wishes to thank all the staff at Autumn Care and her private caregivers Toni, Helen, Angela and Stephanie for their love and daily care. They are truly angels.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, with a graveside service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Cumberland Memorial Gardens, 4509 Raeford Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28304.
