Ben H.
Adair, Sr.
May 24, 2017
FAYETTEVILLE - Mr. Ben H. Adair, Sr., 91, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017, at 1 pm in Praise Fellowship Church of God with Rev. Richard Williford, II. and Rev. Ken R. Boyd presiding. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
Even as a young boy growing up in the small mill town of Gaffney, SC, Ben loved gospel music and knew someday he wanted to sing it. From early childhood days into his military tenure in the Marine Corps during WWII and eventually through a professional career, where he spent 32 years as a mail carrier with the Postal Service, the skillfully planned journey required steady faith to succeed. This prevailing quality of total trust in God is rarely equaled by many great men. Ben met the challenge. His love for family, compiled with his total love for life and friends, have been impacted by his personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
For over 50 years, his singing and teaching ministries have influenced literally thousands of people throughout his time.
Ben was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Maegan Carol Adair.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Edna Bass Adair; children, Russ Adair and wife Carol of Stedman, Ben H. Adair, Jr. and wife Rita of Stedman, Donna Adair of Fayetteville, and Greg Adair and wife Rhonda of Fayetteville; 8 grandchildren, Marcia Davis, Ryan Adair, Jonathan Adair, Jeremy Adair, Devin Adair, Kyle Adair, Ashlea Peacock and Jessica Vinson; and 10 great-grandchildren, Justin Davis, Austin Davis, Alyssa Davis, Tate Adair, Alivia Adair, Morgan Adair, Drake Adair, Ava Adair, Blayden Graham and Jessalyn Peacock.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 to 1 pm at the church.
