Ms. Betty Thomas Chiles, 88, died Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Rex Hospital, Raleigh.

Betty was born in Dallas, Texas, where she attended the University of Texas and Texas Tech.  It was there she met her husband, Urnie.  Due to her husband's service in the Air Force, Betty traveled the world.  She and her husband eventually settled in Fayetteville, where she was a successful real estate agent.  Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.  Burial will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Urnie W. Chiles and a son, Ward Stephen Chiles.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Chiles of Raleigh, and a son, David Chiles of Wilmington; four grandchildren, Josh Chiles of Raleigh, Hannah Wilks of Spiveys Corner, Payne Chiles of Greenville, SC, and Caroline Chiles of Greenville, SC.
