Betty Coley Melvin, 85 of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Betty was born on July 3, 1931 in Fayetteville on Ft. Bragg Rd. in her grandparents H.R. McDaniel's home to the late Berline McDaniel and James Thomas Crowder.

Betty was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a bank teller with First Citizens Bank and a retired employee with Fayetteville Technical Community College in the business office.Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Monday, May 8, 2017 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Robert James and Rev. Ronald Loftis, officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in memorial lounge at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Melvin is survived by her sons, John H. Coley, Jr. and wife Mary Lou of Mocksville; James A. Coley and wife Christie of Wilmington; sister, Ruth E. Davis of Fayetteville; grandchildren, John Hill "BJ" Coley, III and Lauren Hardin; great-grandchildren, John Hill Coley, IV, Chad Hardin, Jacqueline Coley; nephew, Brant Davis; nieces, Kim Clancy and Jennifer Kellem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Melvin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church 201 Anderson St. Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.
