Obituary

Bobbie Owens Dupe, 83, was called to rest on April 22, 2017 after a long illness. She was born in New Orleans, LA; and grew up a country girl in a large family in Alabama. She was a long time resident of Fayetteville, NC who traveled as a military wife to Germany and Okinawa. She was, and always will be, the anchor for her children who depended on her to provide stability and grounding through adulthood. A remarkable woman and mother, she was a strong, compassionate and giving person who sacrificed for her family and always thought of others before herself. She was generous beyond words and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a wise woman of few words and had a huge heart. She was admired and respected by her family and friends. Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, James E. Dupe of Butler, PA; infant son, Johnny Dupe of Bad Tӧlz, Germany; and her mother Willie Cook Owens and father Houston Owens of Millport, AL. Bobbie is survived by sons David and Sonya Lawrence of Tampa, FL; James and Norma Dupe of Fayetteville, NC; and Michael and Margrit Dupe of Fort Walton Beach, FL; and a daughter and best friend Mary and Ricky Bradford of Dacula, GA. She deeply loved her eight beautiful grandchildren and was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her longtime companion of 30 years Willie Tevepaugh and his daughters, Debra Villareal-Lintz and husband Ken, and Sandra Mansfield, each of Fayetteville, NC. Bobbie received her High School Diploma from Fayetteville Technical College in 1971, studied as a bookkeeper, and worked in retail and at Douglas Byrd High School before retirement. Strength, compassion, and courage were hallmarks of her life that served as examples for all who knew her. She loved her children and life, lived life well, and passed in loving peace. She remarked she wanted all to know how deeply she loved her children. One of her last wishes was for her children to remain close which is testament to her devotion to her family. Bobbie had an astounding love for animals so the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in lieu of flowers.

Her funeral will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 . A 2 p.m. funeral mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton at 1000 Andrews Rd, Fayetteville, NC will be preceded by visitation at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street
