Mr. Bobbie Nathaniel Ellis, 97, of Rolling Ridge Assisted Living in Newton Grove, formerly of Stedman, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021.                              .

He was born November 5, 1924 in Chatham County to the late Joseph Andrew Ellis (Jodie) and Manie Copeland Ellis.

He graduated from Pittsboro High School in 1942 and then went on to serve his country in the US Army during WWII. Before retiring and moving back to North Carolina, he and his wife lived in Bowie, Maryland where he worked in construction as a master bricklayer on many of the large buildings in the Washington, DC area.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Jernigan- Warren Chapel in Fayetteville with burial to follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

In addition to his parents and his wife of 67 years, Edna Sumrell Ellis, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Andrew, Arthur, Luther and Wallace, and his sisters, Lilla, Inez, Estelle and Zilphia.

Surviving are a step-daughter, Mary Trussell Tillery and husband Kenneth, a step-granddaughter, Debbie Tillery, and great-granddaughters Jayme and Jessica of Alabama; a special niece, Bobbie Sumrell Allen and great niece, Christy Allen; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
