Brenda Hill
(Bridges) Byrd
February 25, 1945 – May 22, 2025
Brenda Bridges Hill Byrd, 80, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025, with her beloved family by her side.
Brenda was born on February 25, 1945, in Durham County to the late James Edward Bridges and Betty Tart Bridges. A compassionate soul with a heart full of love, Brenda was known as a devoted caretaker, always putting the needs of others before her own—especially when it came to her son, Chris.
Brenda found joy in life's simple pleasures: she had a fondness for the color purple, a lifelong love for butterflies, a cold Pepsi in hand, and cherished her long afternoon naps. But more than anything, she loved her family deeply. Known as "GiGi," "Memaw," "Grandma," and friend, Brenda's warmth, strength, and unwavering kindness touched everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Christopher Hill, and her brother, Dennis Bridges.
Brenda is survived by her loving daughter, Amy Bailey and fiancé Tim; her devoted son, Eddie Hill and wife Mindy; sister, Sandra Jones and husband Harold; brother, Tim Bridges and wife Anita; cherished grandchildren, Joshua and wife Kasey, DJ and fiancée Kaitlyn, Brook and husband Jaddie, Katelin and fiancé Stone, Austin and fiancée Allison; and adored great-grandchildren, Landon, Kaden, Nash, Wyatt, Hadley, Addisyn, and Addalynn.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel in Fayetteville. A butterfly release will follow the service on the front lawn, in tribute to Brenda's enduring love of butterflies and the beauty they symbolize.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301. Online condolences may be shared at www.jerniganwarren.com.
Brenda's legacy of love, generosity, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
