(Sherman) Devane

Brenda Christine Sherman DeVane, 73, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021, at her daughter's home with her beloved family by her side.
Brenda was born March 20, 1948 in Cumberland Co., NC to the late Christine Dees and Alvin Lynscott Sherman, Sr. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, J.B. DeVane and a brother, Scotty Sherman.
Brenda was retired from the U.S. Treasury with over 30 years of service.
She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church where she served on the finance, personnel, and other committees at the church. Brenda was a Sunday School Teacher for the Children's Department.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 12:30 pm with the Rev. Ronald Loftis, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Church in Williamson Hall from 11-12:30 pm on Monday. A private committal will take place at Cross Creek Cemetery.
Brenda is survived by her son, Jay DeVane; daughters, Beverly DeVane Cooper and husband, Laurin, Alyson DeVane Pennell and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Jaymeson DeVane, Jessi Brown, Lyndsi Brown, Brendan Cooper, and Cameron Cooper.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 Anderson St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
