FAYETTEVILLE - Brian Oliver Engle, 19, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013. Brian was an exceptional individual. He loved his family and friends very much. He worked so hard at everything he did in his 19 years of life. At 6'4, Brian was a man's man. From the time that he was a young boy he loved the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and was always a brilliant athlete. He attended Saint Patrick Catholic School from kindergarten to 8th grade, where his personality and athleticism shined. He continued on to Terry Sanford High School, where he was voted MVP in soccer every year. During his final year, as a defender, he added five goals while anchoring the Bulldog defense. He was on the First Team All-Region, and All-Conference. He played for the Fayetteville Force Soccer Club where, with Brian's help, his team rose to First Division. Brian's vibrant personality and infectious smile were loved by everyone who had the privilege of meeting him. He was handsome and so full of life. The ladies called him "Ken Doll" and his loyal friends never left his side. The boys' loved being with him. Brian recognized his religious upbringing and was always prayerful. His service to the holy family has not ended. God has a new soldier in Heaven; a strong angel, to protect and guide those who call on him, to the path of righteousness. The light that is Brian Engle will shine on. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church. The inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. Brian is survived by his mother and father, Christa Engle and Carl Engle of the home; sister, Candace Engle of Wilmington; brother, Adam Engle of Fayetteville; grandmothers, Rosina Newton of Fayetteville, and Maureen Engle of Houston, Pa.; uncles, Willie Newton and family of Cameron, and Jeffrey Engle and family of Houston; and aunts, Tonya Alexander and family of Cannonsburg, Pa., and Gudrun Weber and family of Scheuring, Germany. The family will receive friends Friday evening, Aug. 30, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The family humbly asks that you send donations to "The Wounded Warrior" in honor of Brian Oliver Engle.
