Buddy Grooms, 58, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after a sudden illness. Buddy graduated from Seventy-First High School and attended Sandhills Community College. He was employed by UPS. He was also a member of Camp Ground United Methodist Church. Buddy was preceded in death by his mother, Ola Rheuark Grooms. He is survived by his wife, Alice Pait Grooms of the home; his daughter, Wendy Cox of Fayetteville; his father, J. Paul Grooms of Wilmington; his sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Bill Stanton of Wilmington; and his grandson, Joshua Ryan Cox of Fayetteville. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, Jan. 17, 2008, in Camp Ground United Methodist Church with the Revs. David C. Wade and Dennis Lamm officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Camp Ground United Methodist Church, 4625 Camp Ground Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
