Carl E. Johnson, 86, formerly of Little River, S.C., died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie J. Johnson. He is survived by two daughters, Jeannette Hall Frey and husband Bob of Fleming Island, Fla., and Paulette Knuckles and husband John of Fayetteville; three granddaughters, Christine LeClaire, Melissa Scott and Melinda McCarty; two grandsons, John Knuckles and Brian Hall; and seven great-grandchildren. Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville is handling the arrangements. No visitation is scheduled. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. There will be a private graveside service on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010.
