Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Carol Quinley Newton, 55, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, in her residence. She was born Aug. 6, 1956 in Columbus, Ga., to the late Cecil Quinley and Annie Griffin Quinley. She was a 1973 graduate of Hardaway High School in Columbus. Carol was a member of Haymount United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. She was a retired civil service employee at Fort Benning, Ga., and later at Fort Bragg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, in Haymount United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Gira, officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, in the commons room of the church. Mrs. Newton is survived by her husband, Bob Newton of the home; her son, Trey Newton of the home; brother, Cecil Quinley and wife Edna of Dahlonega, Ga.; nephew, Jason Quinley of Germany; and niece, Kelli Yelverton of Columbus. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville Christian School, 1422 Ireland Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28304. Services entrusted to JerniganWarren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
