Carol Louise Sutterlin Day died early Sunday morning, March 19, 2017 with her family at their home in Fayetteville, NC.

Cancer was a part of her life for more than 17 years. She was grateful to her doctors in CT and NC who gave her more than 10 "extra" years after her cancer returned in 2007. During those 10 years, she attended her daughter's wedding, witnessed the birth of her two grandchildren, traveled to Thailand and Burma on a peacemaking mission and continued her incredibly active, lifelong dedication to the Girls Scouts and the Church.

Born April 18, 1949 in Oakland, California, Carol was the daughter of the late Cora Mae Sutterlin & the late Rev. Richard Sutterlin. Raised mostly in Mitchell, South Dakota she received her BA from Sioux Falls College & her MLS from Syracuse University. Carol taught as a School Librarian for 10 years in upstate New York, then for 25 years at Lillie B. Haynes Elementary School in East Lyme, CT.

Carol is survived by her former husband and friend Rev. Judson Day, her daughter Leona Alice Day James & husband Rev. Robert M. James, Jr. and by granddaughters Cecilia Mae & Sophia Louise who will miss her stories.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 201 Anderson Street, Fayetteville, NC at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29th. Visiting hours will be at noon at the church.
