Catherine Bertie Tilghman, of Fayetteville died October 19, 2015.

She was the daughter of Rev. Warren D. Tilghman & Rebecca Kimble Tilghman of Kinston. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was a 1964 graduate of Grainger High School in Kinston, a 1968 graduate of Mars Hill College and had Masters degrees from Wake Forest University & UNC - Pembroke.

She was a teacher in Albemarle, NC; a guidance counselor at St. Andrews College, Laurinburg & later a counselor at FTCC. She retired from FTCC as a math instructor. Cathy was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville, serving as a deacon, elder, clerk of Session & lay minister.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Dwight & Frederick Tilghman. She is survived by sisters Suzanne & Janet Tilghman, and Debbie Hardee (Ernie) all of Kinston, nieces Grace Hardee Mitchell (Jeff) of Delta Junction, Alaska; Catherine Hardee of Kinston, nephew Luke Hardee (Sarah) of Lynchburg, Va; great-nieces Emily & Caroline Mitchell, and great-nephew Isaac Mitchell, all of Delta Junction, Alaska. A Memorial Service will be held on October 31 at 12:00 at the First Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville with visitation for 1 hour prior to the service.
