Obituary

Charles William "Bill" Jordan, 83, joined Heaven's Bluegrass Band on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Long considered the "Grandfather" of Bluegrass Music in this region, he has performed for local audiences for over 60 years.

A master woodworker, he has owned and operated Cumberland Millworks since 1970 and has built cabinets and millwork for many of the finest homes from Virginia to Florida. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens on Raeford Rd. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.

He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Nadine Jordan; a grandson, Anthony Brian Smith; a sister, Juanita Simmons, and his parents, Charles F. Jordan and Adelaide P. McLamb.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Canady (Smoot) of Gray's Creek; Debbi Nobles (Daryle) of Fayetteville; a son, Randy Jordan (Vickie) of Lumber Bridge; a brother, James Albert Jordan (Sandy) of Hope Mills; a sister, Kay Zoucha (Tony) of Hampstead; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Gibson Cancer Center in Lumberton and Community Hospice of Fayetteville for your compassionate care and love. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
