Obituary

Charles Lindy Blanton, 85 of Fayetteville, died Saturday April 16, 2016 in the comfort of his home.

Mr. Blanton was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of Lafayette Baptist Church. He served on the USS Missouri, worked and retired from Sears as a TV Technician. He loved working in his yard and being on his tractor. He loved fishing and boating while he lived in Wilmington. He was involved in his church where he loved being a Keenager. He was a loving Daddy, Grandpa and Big Pa, he enjoyed making people feel good and always had a smile and a great story to tell them. His smile was infectious.

Survivors include: the loving mother of his children Cora B. Blanton of Wilmington; his children, Faye Blanton and fiance Randy Carpenter of Fayetteville, Charles Allan Blanton and wife Charlotte of Fayetteville, Rodney D. Blanton of Hope Mills, Nancy B. Cone and husband David of Salisbury and Robert E. L. Blanton of Wilmington; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Frances V. Blanton. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to a special friend of his, Jan Turransky.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 21, at Lafayette Baptist Church with burial following in Lafayette Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lafayette Baptist Church, Wounded Warriors Project or to the charity of ones choice.
