Charles Linberg Brindel, 88 of Fayetteville, NC Passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home with a graveside service following at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at 2pm with Full Military Honors.

Charlie was born in Burke County, North Carolina, the son of the late Lillian Brindel (May) and Sherrill Brindel. His wife of 64 years, Irene, predeceased him. He is survived by three children, Deborah Croteau (Richard) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Butch Brindel (Sybil) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, and Jocelyn Huffine (Kenny) of Vass, North Carolina. He has three grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer and Travis, and two great-grandchildren.

Charlie served in the US Army for 32 years and retired with the rank of Colonel. During his tour in Vietnam 1967-68, he received the Distinguished Service Cross during the Tet Offensive. After retiring from the military he pursued his second career as the Executive Vice-President of Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He retired from this career at the age of 80.

He enjoyed playing cards, golf and spending time with his numerous friends. He loved his church family at Myrtle Beach Christian Church as well. Charlie never met a stranger and never forgot his humble beginnings. Whenever he left you or ended a telephone conversation he always said, "Good-bye for now."
