Obituary

Charles W. Hamilton, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2014. He was 85, and had an eventful life full of love from his friends and family. He would later become Charlie to his buddies and affectionately known to his grandchildren as Pop.

In the service, Lefty served two tours in Vietnam, where he received many honors, including the Bronze Star. Charlie served in the United States Army, where he later retired as a sergeant first class. He then worked at Black & Decker, where he made many lifelong friends before he retired.

Charlie enjoyed getting his family together for the holidays, especially Christmas. Nothing bought him more joy than sitting back watching his girls, son-in-law and grandchildren sharing jokes, the latest events and celebrating life! He mentioned every Christmas that he wished it could be like this all year.

Please join us in celebrating his life from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. He will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, in Main Post Cemetery on Fort Benning, Ga., alongside his beloved infant son, Tommy.

He is survived by his three daughters, Kathy Starling, Kim Langdon and son-in-law, Gary S. Langdon, and Nancy Kebort; sister, Norma Lewis; six grandchildren, Gary J. and wife Lauren, Justin, Chris, Stacy, Charlie and wife Amber, and Branson; and three great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Aria and Isabella.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital
