Mr. Charles Lennon Jordan, 81, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at his residence.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 11 o'clock am in Cross Creek Cemetery with Rev. Tim Evans presiding.
Charles was born December 4, 1932, in Cumberland County to the late James Thomas and Gertrude Pendergrass Jordan. He was a graduate of Massey Hill High School, class of 1951, and then attended UNC Chapel Hill.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. During his service, he received the Korean Service, Chinese Service, and UN Service Medals as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was the longtime owner & operator of Mobile Radio Sales and Service and then he helped start Fayetteville's first cellular phone company, Cellular One.
He attended Massey Hill Baptist Church and was a member of John Huske Anderson Masonic Lodge.
Charles was preceded in death by his two brothers, James T. Jordan, Jr. of Marietta, GA and Alfred P. Jordan of Fayetteville.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Sherrill Jordan of the home; two daughters, Lynn Jordan Thornton of Fayetteville and Karen Jordan Martin and husband, Paul Z. Martin, Jr. of New Holland, PA; two grandchildren, Joy T. Rozier and Stephen L. Thornton; and four great-grandchildren, Haily Cain, Anthony Thornton, Dustin Thornton, and Stephen Thornton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Massey Hill Baptist Church or Amedysis Hospice Care of Raeford.
