Charles A. Melton July 12, 1937 - November 8, 2017

Charles A. Melton, lovingly known as Chuck, passed away Wednesday in the presence of loved ones. Chuck was born in Big Creek, Mississippi and went on to be a decorated Vietnam veteran and a retired member of the civil service. He was a pillar of the community and an active member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church. Chuck is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred, his son Brian Melton of Matthews, NC and wife Anne, his son Charles Melton of Fayetteville, NC and wife Jane Ellen, and daughter Sharon Byrd of Dunn, NC and husband Jackie. He was also blessed with 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Chuck will be forever remembered for his kindness, loyalty and selflessness. He will be missed. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Cedar Falls Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2-3 prior to the service at the Church. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
