Charles Michael Smith

Charles Michael Smith, 46, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at his home.

Michael was born October 18, 1979, and was a graduate of Terry Sanford High School. He was employed as a produce clerk at Carlie C’s on Owen Drive. Having grown up in his grandfather’s custom cabinet shop, Michael was an accomplished cabinet finisher. He enjoyed creative writing, watching old movies, and had a great sense of humor. Even from early childhood, he had vivid imagination. Although he didn’t like to share his talent with others, he was a very good guitarist and vocalist.

He is predeceased by his wife, Nicole Herring Smith and brother, Anthony Brian Smith.

Michael is survived by his sons, Payton Connor Smith and Ian Michael Smith; mother, Debbi Nobles and stepfather, Daryle; father, Andy Smith and stepmother, Susan; in-laws, Mike and Tissie Maness of Dublin, NC; close friend, Mark Fleishman; and a host of extended family and friends.
