Charles Edward Overton, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, August 21 at his home with his devoted wife of nearly 53 years, Peggy, by his side. Born in Red Springs, NC on May 7, 1943 to the late Hugh Edward and Victoria Kinlaw Overton. Charles grew up in Rockfish, NC on his family farm with his late sisters, Betty Jean Overton Johnson and Elizabeth Ann Overton Guy attending Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Charles worked for 52 years in the commercial cleaning, chemical and supply business. He was a long time member and deacon at Massey Hill Baptist Church.

Charles is survived by his wife, Peggy Taylor Overton; his daughter, Sherry Overton Shudra of Sanford, NC; and his son Stephen Mark Overton and wife, Nicole, grandsons, Jessup Colton and Caden Jackson Overton all of Dunn, NC.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11am at Massey Hill Baptist Church.  Burial services to follow in Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockfish, NC. Memorials may be directed to Massey Hill Baptist Church or Baptist Children's Homes of NC.
