Obituary

Charles Allen Register Sr., 88, of Eastover, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 7, 2016, at his home surrounded by his wife of 67 years, Betty, and his children.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in Baywood Church conducted by Rev. Wiley Clark, Pastor Richard Robinson and Chaplain Scott Reeves. Burial will follow in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. The family will also be at the home at 2352 Dunn Rd., Eastover, NC.

Born to James Allen and Ola Britt Register on January 25, 1928, Charles graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1946. He then went to work for Belk Hensdale Company where he met his wife, Betty McLaurin. He became manager of Belk's in Elizabethtown, Whiteville and Lumberton, NC. In 1974, he returned to Fayetteville to Supervise Operations for the Belk Hensdale Group until his retirement in 1982.

Charles was a member of Lions Club from 1961-1982. He was a member of Gideon's International as well as the Eastover Civic Club.

Charles was a devout Christian and spent his life serving his Lord and Savior. A member of Person Street PH Church, Whiteville PH Church and Lumberton PH Church, where he served as Choir Director, Sunday School Superintendent, and Deacon.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughters Phyllis (Glen) Covington of Spartanburg SC, Charlotte (Mike) Price; sons Charles Allen Jr. (Tony) and Michael Kevin (Sonya) Register, all of Fayetteville; Grandchildren Christopher and Stephen Price, Matthew (Stephanie) Covington, Jennifer(Phillip) Breland and Taylor and MacKenzie Register; Great Grandchildren Charles and Emily Breland and Matthew, Samuel, and George Covington; Brother Milton (Mary Ann) Register; Sister Frances Fulcher; sisters-in-law Rachel Bryant and Rebah (Leo) Page; and numerous nieces and nephews and special cousins, Linda and Otis Collier.

He was pre-deceased by his sister, Lola Mae Parker and brothers-in-law, Louis Fulcher, Raymond Parker and Robert Bryant.

Many thanks to special friends, Dr. Charles and Christel Haworth and sons who were like family to him. He often called Christel his other daughter.

Also a special thank you to Hospice nurse, Sandra Jackson, CNA Shannon Smith, Joy Martens, MSW and Chaplain Scott Reeves.
