Charles Lester Roberts, 91 of Fayetteville, died Monday, August 17, 2015 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
He was born January 7, 1924 in Tarheel the son of the late Capers Leroy and Emma Gertrude Honeycutt Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a graduate of Tarheel High School and spent three years as an Army combat infantryman in Italy during World War II. He was retired from sales with Kimbrell's Furniture and enjoyed many years tending the beautiful garden spot on Ramsey St. across from Wal-Mart.
Mr. Roberts was a member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church serving as a deacon and as a member of the Shepherds of the Cross Sunday School Class.
A Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11: 00 a.m. at Cedar Falls Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Sholar and Doug Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Esther Formy-Duval Roberts of the home, daughter, Mary LaRue Kutz and husband Rodney, of Lake Jackson, TX. Granddaughter, Mary Margaret Mangenot and husband Gerard of Grovetown, GA. Grandsons, Martin Kutz and wife Jessica of Prosper, TX and Charles Kutz and wife Meredith of Baltimore, MD and great grandsons, Jackson and Rhetton Kutz of prosper, TX and Paul Mangenot of Grovetown, GA. Pallbearers will be Martin Kutz, Charles Kutz, Gerard Mangenot, Clarence Tew, Glenn Neal and Kevin Butler.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cedar Falls Baptist Church 6181 Ramsey St. Fayetteville, N.C. 28311.
